Coach's Note:

Fall baseball is in full swing and going great! We will schedule a field clean-up day when Fall Ball is over. It will be after school, at the same time as normal Fall practice.

Field Improvements: Please keep the following information confidential until the project is 100% approved.

Coach Hadley, Jeremy Davis (APG Architects), and I have been meeting with the school about the field improvement project. It has been a wild ride, but things are moving in our favor! What started as a backstop project has become a full-field upgrade for the baseball and softball programs. The original plan was to have the work begin in October, but it has been pushed back to November/December. The reason for the delay is that when softball was included, it pushed the cost over the threshold of a non-bid project, making it one that requires bids. The school board will vote to approve bidding at the October meeting, and the project go/no-go decision will be made in the November meeting, with construction starting soon after. Some of the improvements include:

  • New backstop

  • New black fence all around

  • New bleachers

  • Concrete pads for bleachers

  • Possible concrete all around seating areas and concessions (TBD)

We have received a quote to redo the siding on the concession/media building (VIEW QUOTE). This requires a vote to purchase materials (VOTE HERE). We are planning on using volunteer labor to do the siding. Any recommendations for volunteers who are good at renovations would be appreciated. We would like to work on this project in November ahead of the fence construction. Northgate Church Dresden and Sherwin-Williams have donated paint and finishing materials for the project. Young Minister's Painting has volunteered to paint the brick outside and inside the building. The window in the media booth is too small to view the field. We are planning to replace the window with an 8-ft UV-treated plexiglass to improve the viewing area.

Park National Bank has agreed to donate $5,500 for a new sound system for the facility.

Please send me a text (740-607-4899) if you would be willing to help with the installation of the metal siding, or if you know someone who can.
